Our primary focus is on sub $2 stepper motors because it's easier to participate and scale with very little money. There are a lot of projects that are either not precise enough, fast enough, or powerful enough without more performant motors which is why we will be starting with low cost solutions and then piggy back higher performance solutions when justified.
Belt Drive Systems
Although we're focused on a simpler rack and pinion system, belt drive systems are much faster and can offer more precision over rack-drive systems. Faster robots means quicker dev cycles, meaning *more* dev cycles. The software and ecosystem are going to grow faster and become more feature complete more quickly because after we develop low cost solutions, we'll convert a high-speed solution.
